Energy Efficiency
Copper has excellent electrical conductivity and helps make power generation and use as efficient as possible. It is estimated that a tonne of copper used in electricity systems can save up to 200 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.
Copper also enables all forms of renewable energies, being an essential material in wind turbines, photovoltaic panels, wave and tidal generation and solar thermal systems.
The car of the future will also rely on copper to be more efficient. Hybrid and electric vehicles may use up to double the amount of copper compared to the conventional cars due to their high-efficiency electric motors, batteries, wiring and other components.
Energy is precious. Copper helps to make sure we don’t waste it.
