Recyclability
Most of the copper in use today has been here for ages. Literally.
Copper’s ability to be recycled again and again without any loss of performance or properties was established long before sustainability became a buzzword for Europe.
What’s more, when recycling copper, nothing is wasted. Copper recycling strongly supports sustainability and preserves primary resources.
Here are the facts:
- 80% of the copper ever produced is still in use
- Recycling meets about 40% of European copper demand
- The CO2 savings from recycling just one tonne of copper offset those emitted by an average car (130 gm CO2/km) travelling 18,000 km – that’s three quarters of the way around the world!
